I saw time
this July morning
on I 95
between Saco
and Biddeford, Maine.
In the middle
of a bank
of lavender clover,
a clump of brown-eyed-susans
staring at me
through autumn
eyes.
I rolled
my window
up against
the chill.

Great snapshot of a beautiful day.
The images just flow....Wonderful poem.
You say it so pictorially!
the sky melts away from the earth
lovely!
wonderful how the poem shifts and changes focus in such a small space.
very true... I pictured every moment. I long for it now in this heat!
Aww, man. I hate it when my favorite flowers foreshadow something icky.
But... to be honest, I could do with a blast of impending autumn. I'm ready to put this horrid summer behind me.
