Empowered for Writer's Island

Designing

I spent the morning
in front of a computer
designing a TeacherWeb page
and if I turned my head just a little
I could see the sun
designing a mosaic
on the fall leaves.

Now, in this caramel afternoon
I’m sitting on a beach
with that same sun
painting shadows
in all the little pockets
of the sand.
I watch the waves
rush toward high tide
crocheting an intricate doily
on the shore
and with a yellow pencil
I design a poem.

Linda, this poem is beautiful. There isn't even one sentence I can point out as loving the most because I'd just be re-copying your poem. The descriptions are so vivid, I feel as though I'm on the beach with you.

Such beautiful images. Creative images of creative images! Read this poem several times and just let it wash over me. So lovely!

P.S. I too am an English high school teacher ~ in Melbourne, Australia!
