I Believe...for Sunday Scribblings

I believe in the magic
that curls into our house

whenever Kylie comes to visit.
I believe in the power

of “Amazing Grace”
to make me cry;

whenever I hear it,
I think of my dad’s funeral.

I believe in the laughter
bubbling in our home

on Christmas day.
I believe that teenagers

will take over
and it will be a better world.

I believe in Buffalo wings
to erase problems

and the chemistry
of a simple kiss goodbye

in the morning
and another one

later in the melting day.
I believe in words

that float in the airwaves,
recline on clean white paper,

or knit themselves
into the poetry of our lives.

I believe in the sky of his eyes;
he believes in the earth of mine.

Oh yes, Amazing Grace has the power to make many of us cry. For me, my popaw's funeral.

Oh, I love this! You have said in beautiful poetry what I tried to say in lame prose distributed between photos. Thank you for your post!

Beautiful array of believes.
Of all believes, one must first learn to believe in himself :)

Happy Weekend!

It's so cute - I love how you included not only the big things like Earth and Truth but the small ones too like wings :)

I was at Christmas concert the other day and they ended with Amazing Grace, I was truly moved.

I absolutely adore the last half of this poem!! It's so simple and well-written. Your word choice is wonderful. I can't choose the right words to describe this. You are a wonderful wordsmith. I'm so happy that you've visited me again, dear Linda. :) Thank you for stopping by and for also sharing this lovely poem of yours!!
