Big Tent Poetry #2: Aural Experience

Big Tent Poetry asked us to listen this week to something technical, jot down a few words from it, and see where they take us.

From “Criminal Profiling” come these terms: comfort zone, triggering trauma, brain damage, chemical imbalances, negative parenting

Trip Out of Life

It’s a shift
chemical imbalance
continuing death
nausea
no comfort zone
legs push covers
sweat pops out
heart races
fan face
brain damage?
menopause
the beginning
of the end.

Clever work marrying the criminal profile with menopause. I can vouch for the brain damage feeling. :) Well done!

I'm glad this is not something I might experience! Who would have thought these symptoms would coincide?!

Bite your tongue about the menopause! hahaha
I actually really enjoyed this, even the night sweats under the fan!

I can remember taking the fan under the mosquito net, as my menopause coincided with two years living in the tropics. Your poem is a real cri de coeur. Bravo.

Wonderfully uncomfortable feel to your wording. Restless and plain 'ol sweaty.

P.S. Love that question mark following "brain damage".

Interesting pattern - next time there's a crime we'll know who to blame... :)

Thanks for playing along -- I think your poem covered "new ground" wonderfully. (And I have first-hand experience. Just sayin'!)

my friend's daughter (who is 11) refuses to believe she'll get her period. says she plans on being the only girl who doesn't have to deal with it. i'm going to apply her policy to menopause. la la la: i can't hear you! sweat? brain damage? la la la!!!

I do not have firsthand knowledge (yet) but from what I heard it is criminal. I like that you were able to include a drop of humor in it…
