The End of the Day
Settles like a deflated balloon
around the ankles
of the night
and I kick it
out of the way
into the corner
of used time.
Then I get into
my waterbed
and read for a bit
until I feel
the weight
of my eyes
sagging into
sleep.

ReplyDeleteA perfect end to the day.
ReplyDeletePhew, I like the way you kick the title - although I wouldn't want to get into a waterbed, in case I got wet.
ReplyDeleteThe imagery in this is so neat! Love that you kick day's into the used time corner and revamp for the next phase. Great.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of it like that, but pretty much the way do it - apart from the waterbed.
