Suday Scribblings: Extreme

We had a sunny day
today
for the first time
this year.

At noon I went
for a walk
in the ten degree
temps.

The streets were salty
slushy
and the wind was
a slap

I clicked a few
pictures
of snow-covered
mountains

hunching under
the blue
blanket of sky.
When my

legs turned numb
and tears
slid down my cheeks
like kids

sledding down a hill,
I hurried
home to the smell
of baked

bread and my husband
waiting
for me with his warm arms
wide open.

  1. Nice one Linda, I don't know about the temperature but Hubby baking bread, now that sounds extreme! (Only joking)

btw, the NaiSaiKu Challenge? is back Online this week.

  2. Aw. I loved it...especially the tears sliding down the snowy cheeks and the husband's open arms.

  3. What a lovely picture. I loved the 'slap of the wind' but not quite as much as the 'warm arms!'

  7. Thanks for writing such a lovely love poem. This poem's right at the core with what's good about winter, the contrast of outside and inside, the sense of being alone and being so loved.
