3WW: Fragrant, Jostle, Remnant

Canteloupe sky
behind a palm tree

jostles my eyes
awake. The remnant

of last night's disappointment
shrinks as the sun

peeks from behind
the fronds. A new day

winks. My eyes fill
with possibilities,

again. The fragrance
of hope is a sunrise.

It's just too bright.
I close my eyes,

wait for you to wake up.
I become less and less.

  1. The sun can cause worry..too much pressure..maybe today won't be good enough..'I' won't be good enough..yet there's always a chance it will be ok..the day may wink at us teasingly but it will always carry us through to glorious bed time..Jae

  2. There's a glimmer of hope, but the thought of more sleep is more reassuring, this takes me back into my subconscious.

  3. I enjoyed this poem very much. I like this line
    " The fragrance
    of hope is a sunrise"
The thought before the sun gets to bright and doubts sneak in. Thank you.

  6. The sadness of a failing relationship is gradually revealed in the words as she wakes up to the day and that realization. A beautiful poem.

  7. I adored the forward, upward momentum of this piece, until that last line! You stunned me!

  8. I love it but that last line just doesn't go well with the rest of the poem...
