Erode, Heart, Observe for 3WW

I sit in the twilight
of a rainy dawn

observing how green
everything still is.

Fat oak leaves
slapping the wind,

blades of grass
like bird beaks

open to the drops
of water from the sky,

weeds growing
like babies.

No cold temperatures
have eroded their vibrancy

yet. The heart of summer
beats strong.

  2. I like to think of the heart of summer beating strong even after Autumn has arrived.

  3. Beautiful! I love the beauty you captured in this poem from the lingering of Summers heart beat from the Fall coming in.

  9. I can remember many many years ago being discouraged from using similes but to use metaphors instead. You have got a very effective mix here.

  10. Sums up the weather we've all been experiencing. Nicely done.
