Eclipse, Velocity, Languish for 3WW

He drags into class
with the velocity
of a bubble
in a lava lamp.

I watch him languish
day after day
no homework
no participation.

His eyelids sag
in a Ritalin-induced
stupor. I tell a joke.
He stares at me.

I ask him a question.
He blinks and mumbles
an answer. An unnecessary
eclipse of the mind.

  1. Expressions nicely sealed.
Atleast he answers after the blinking and staring.
But thats how the varied mentality begins.

  9. "Velocity of a bubble" was indeed a thoughtful construct...image came across so vividly.

  10. That's a vivid image, the bubble in the lava lamp. I've felt like that many days. lol

It's sad that some kids are put into this Ritalin-induced stupor.

    Great poem though!

  11. I can just imagine. Isn't it frustrating for you?

  12. This is gut-wrenching. I read a study a while back that pointed out how unnecessary and even harmful some of these prescriptions are... laziness and a quick drug fix too often takes the place of the care and attention that would truly benefit these kids. The Moment Before Impact
