Caress Jagged Ruthless
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Cauliflower waves
caress the brown sugar
sand
late in the afternoon.
I know I have
to get back to camp
to make supper,
do the dishes,
take in my laundry.
But the sunset
is leaving
jagged shadows
all over the beach
and I’m comfy
in my nifty seat
and I just want
to stay here
and ignore
the waves
of ruthless
time.
I sense tension between the idyllic and the strains of living. Maybe I'm projecting my own storm gathering, dark shadows trying to pull me under.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your work. I've missed coming by.
Oh, wow, I hope all the 3WW participants come back to see this. It's lovely and such a simple read with so much elegance to it. I love the food references leading to the "make supper" and then back to the waves of ruthless time. I adore this poem. Do you have an extra chair on that beach of yours?
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I am amazed at what a wonderful piece of poetry you have crafted from these three words.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have an award for you at my blog. Please feel free to drop by and pick it up.
Waves of ruthless time. Ending is brilliant
ReplyDeleteYour 3 WW shows that nagging "I don't want to move" very well! This flows smoothly. Certain phrase I like :
ReplyDelete"the brown sugar sand"
"the waves of ruthless time."
I really like the descriptions in this. And yes, the end is brilliant. Great job.
ReplyDeletethen do it.. what harm could possibly come from enjoying it just a few moments longer... lovely linda...
ReplyDeleteI love this!
