Just a teensy, everyday miracle...
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Fog is tangled
in the arms of trees.
Pine needles
wear lone rhinestones.
Oak leaves
are aluminum covered.
The guy
across the street
sits at the edge
of his screen room
with the door open
and his legs sticking out
smoking a cigarette
and drinking coffee.
There is no sun;
there is no gold;
we’ll see no blue sky today.
I write a poem, anyway.
Perfect as always, you stir us to attention! I agree!!

this is the kind of poem that
ReplyDeletejoys the poetry of everyday life.
Beautifully done. So much meaning in the ordinary.
ReplyDeletethe sun is slicing thru the fog
ReplyDeletethe blue is seeping in
another languid sunny day
in nor cal its summer,, still......
You said just the perfect thing...well at least for me. The true "miracle" is in the "guy" with his legs hanging over the edge of the porch. Ordinary yet somehow miraculous.

It's wonderful to return to your creative poetry. The everyday miracles must not be over looked.
ReplyDeleteso how are his legs?? attractive?
ReplyDeleteHOpe it's a nice view!
Every day things can be looked upon as small miracles.. Like this sweet poem. :)
What lovely words. Who needs a blue sky when a poem like this pops into your head?
ReplyDeleteI love your poems. I also love fog tangled in the arms of the redwood outside my window with diamonds on its needles. But we're in the midst of a heat wave and in the bright sunshine I dream of them in vain!
ReplyDeletei can find miracles everyday too. i wrote something about it in my other blog

I haven't been able to write anything for the prompt and thought it best to read others' for inspiration. You're were first on my list. Jackpot! (This does not mean I have something to write). There is so much to admire here. The images are poignant, elegant but not cluttered. The structure is solid. I enjoy seeing a poet who uses the tools of the craft. And again, you simply tell stories that stay with us. Well done. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteoh this is just wonderful. loved the simplicity but the directness of the poem.
ReplyDeletethis poem reminds of the a poem written by my friend. have a nice day
Lovely poem celebrating every day life and the miracles within us.
ReplyDeleteThe rhythm of this is just perfect, Linda. And the subject? As I read, I kept thinking of the spider's web just off my front porch. I've tried to stop every morning on my way to the bus stop and ... appreciate.
ReplyDeleteYou totally captured that.
I love your poem. I can see miracles throughout it. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my site.

ReplyDeleteThis is good poetry says I, who knows it when I sees it :-)
It's simplicity is the charm
ReplyDeleteIt's so fascinating how you always manage to use so few words that say so much! I love stanzas 1-3 best just because I'm such a nature lover!! <3

Linda, this was so calming and I love the (to me) unexpected reference to aluminum.
ReplyDelete(I like where you took my title in your comment, I had not thought of it that way, but it makes sense.)
