Solace for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Morning

It was Sunday morning
and I snuck out of bed
to enjoy
some quiet time,
some me time,
while you stayed
cocooned in our
waterbed.

I quietly maneuvered
myself out from beneath
the covers like a letter
slipping out of an envelope,
reached for my bathrobe,
tiptoed
down the stairs
avoiding the squeaky ones,

then sat in a pond
of sunshine
and read a book
enjoying the poetry
of quiet Sunday mornings.

  1. A perfect way to spend Sunday
    morning, written like telling
    a secret.

  4. This made me think of one of my favorite John Denver songs, "Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy..." Add a book to it and what could be better?

  6. "like a letter slipping out of an envelope" - how perfect is that??? --- i've done that from time to time and my hero always jokingly says i've gotten loose again - i love the quality of the stealth through your poem, makes it seem like your on an adventure seeking treasure - then you get it!!!

  8. That is a lovely soft and precise poem with a very delicate tone. I particularly like you slipping out of bed like a letter out of an envelope, that is a lovely image.
